Have a wonderful weekend!

What a fantastic way to spend our Friday!!  I want to thank all of the drivers that were able to take some time off and come with us: 
               Daisy's mom, Reesa's mom, Nicole's mom, Kyle's dad,
               Nicholas's mom, Jason's mom, Ethan P's dad and Eric's mom
               and stepdad

   Socials:    all notes should be done so that students are ready to start their rough copy of
                    their journal on Monday
   Spelling:   unit 16 - due Thursday
   French:     quiz Monday on conjugating regular 'er' verbs
                     should know the 8 pronouns and the endings that go with them
   Reading:  should practice their poem
                     to be presented on Monday

First, sorry that I didn't blog yesterday.  I'm coaching the Tier 3 boys basketball team and they had their first game right after school.  The boys player a fantastic game!  There were lots of passes, moving to the ball, rebounds and drives to the hoop.  It was very exciting and they started the season with a win.  Fun!

   Math:      Wall Math (Fri)
   Socials:   all notes should be collected by tomorrow
                  the students will have the weekend free of Socials homework (unless not finished
                             collecting notes) and we'll start writing the drafts of the journal on Monday
   French:    quiz on Monday on conjugating a regular 'er' verb (students have all the notes
                              needed to review and practice this process)
   Reading:   memorized poem presentations start on Monday 
                   practice in front of your pets, stuffies, a mirror or an adult - I'll be listening for
                              appropriate pauses, a good tempo (not too fast or too slow), good voice
                              projection and good enunciation

Skiing Trip: 
Students need snow pants, gloves, a toque, warm coat (maybe a hoodie underneath in case they want to take their coat off), boots, an extra pair of socks, a water bottle, a healthy snack and a fairly big lunch.  We are going to work up an appetite!!

   Drivers:  We will be leaving the school between 8:45 and 9:00.  We do have enough drivers.  If any parent would like to opt out of this field trip tomorrow, just email me and I'll let you know if it will work. If all parents come we can always have  parents carpool together, if they want to.

Important Note:
   We have had a case of lice in the classroom.  Please check your child's head carefully tonight. If your child does have lice, please DO NOT send them to school until you are sure that they are all gone.  This can be a very circular problem.

We are scheduled to go cross country skiing on Friday, January 25. The permission slip will come home on Monday, Jan. 14 and be due back by Jan. 18.  I will be needing parent drivers for this field trip.
There is a Science test coming up late next week.  Students are welcome to start reviewing their notes and vocabulary in their duotangs.

PE Strip is needed for Monday, January 7.  We will go for outside PE on Thursday so, please, dress in winter wear.

We will be starting our Poetry unit right away this week.  If you have any good poetry books that you'd like to bring in to share with others, please feel free to do so.
